Youth Pastor

Born and raised in Tacoma I am excited to serve Jesus here. I met Jesus in elementary school and grew up in church knowing him but didn’t really choose to follow him until 1999. As a parent, coach, teacher, and now youth pastor, I am passionate about helping young men and women through the hard process of growing up. To think that I now get to do so within the context of full time ministry is mind blowing! I am so excited to see what Jesus has in store for our Impact tribe!

I have been married to my beautiful wife Amy for 25 years. We have been attending FBC since 2002. We have 5, mostly adult, children (One is married in!) who have all been blessed by the youth group at FBC. This makes it such a honor for me to be able to serve Jesus through Impact since he has used it to richly bless my family. It is such a privilege to serve alongside the amazing leadership team God has assembled here!

I love to barbecue, travel, and read. I even enjoy most home remodeling projects. Oh, it’s also really awesome to cross things off my Honey Do list. Am I right? Pizza is great, coffee rocks, but ice cream rules!

Youth Assistant

I have worked on staff at FBC for Impact since 2015, and I consider it an amazing blessing to walk alongside students as they seek the Lord. I work behind the scenes as the youth ministry administrator, as well as serving with the Student Leadership Team and high school girls. I believe that living to magnify the name of Jesus starts with a love and dependency on the Scriptures, and I’m passionate about helping teenagers get into their Bibles.
I also work as a portrait photographer at a studio in Issaquah, and I have a side hustle of my own wedding photography business. You can pretty much always find me with a camera in hand! I also love hiking, cooking, and finding any excuse to travel.

Middle School Volunteers

I married my college sweetheart, Marsha, in 2002, and we live on Waller with our four children, Mark (12), Eliott (10), Emma (7) and Beatrice (2). I grew up in Kent where the Lord rescued me just before high school and then placed me under a youth pastor who provided foundational discipleship and helped me grow. I work in Tacoma as a civil engineer at BCRA. I enjoy music (singing and guitar), playing sports with my boys (football and basketball especially), working with the family on our little farm, and sharing my faith in Jesus.

I have been attending FBC for my whole life, and I have been involved in various ministries for close to 7 years now. My passion for the youth started many years ago when a young man invested his life into mine. He showed me first hand the impact even one person can have on another life. Because of his influence, I became a youth leader as soon as I graduated high school, and have been involved in as much as I possibly can since then. I have also been following in my father’s footsteps as a UPS driver, and I absolutely love it! I enjoy getting to meet new people every day and I love sharing my joy in Christ with as many of them as I am able to. Margo Poissant and I have been dating for the past two years now, and we are planning to get married in 2019.

Hi I’m Margo Nyhuis, wife to Malachi Nyhuis, and mother-to-be of our identical twin boys on the way! I have served in youth ministry for a few years now, previously at the church I attended in CA, and now here for about a year. My middle school years were very transformative in my walk with the Lord, so I think it’s very appropriate that for this season of my life, this is where God has placed me to serve. I also love that my husband and I have a shared heart for youth ministry and have had independently, since before we even dated.
Ultimately my goal in serving in this ministry, is to encourage our kids to pursue Christ wholeheartedly, knowing that it is their choice and not that of their parents or friends to give their life to Jesus and live for Him. Nothing but a personal relationship with Jesus, through accepting His incredible sacrifice, and believing He is sovereign, will ever truly satisfy the myriad of thirsts we crave as humans. Christ alone is the way, the truth, and the life! I also want to help our kids feel safe to share their struggles, and desire to guide them to Christ and what His word says, every step of the way. He is our rock, and He is our salvation. My hope is to live this, and share this with your kids!

Even though Amy knew who Jesus was, she didn’t fall in love with him until 1999. Since coming to FBC in 2002 Amy has been involved in children’s ministry and taught Sunday School for 12 years. Because of what the FBC youth group has meant to her family Amy feels it is such a blessing to play a role in helping our students grow in their knowledge of and love for Jesus.

A happy wife since 1994 Amy and her husband Chris have 5 grownish kids. Amy lives life with her whole heart. She is passionate about running her own business, taking care of her family, and serving people. She also enjoys travelling, reading, and cooking in her free time.

Born and raised in Tacoma, I found myself at FBC the summer of 2015 and absolutely love it! I am passionate about people of all ages and being able to show kindness, compassion, and encouragement. I love cooking and I am hoping to take a cooking class to learn to make homemade pasta. I can usually be found taking a road trip to explore new places, playing my guitar, line dancing, baking, or at Titlow Beach with a smile on my face. I love the kids of all ages at FBC and truly enjoy watching God grow them each day!

Dayna recently moved back home to Tacoma after graduating college, and is serving as a middle school girls leader (and loving every minute of it!). She loves seeing the students grow closer to God as they challenge her to see Him in a new way. Dayna works in social work, and in her spare time loves to spend time with friends and family, work out, and attempt YouTube makeup tutorials.

Donny is a new addition to the IMPACT team with Jessica, his wife of 20 years. He has attended FBC since 2012 and also serves in the sound/tech department. He met the Lord in childhood and has followed God’s calling for him in working with kids and teens in clinical and ministerial capacities for over two decades. Donny is a life coach in private practice and enjoys camping, hiking, sports, cooking, and spending time with his wife and kids.

Anders has been coming to FBC his entire life and is super excited to help the youth group. Anders is currently working toward a degree in Computer Science at the University of Washington in Tacoma, but in his free time he likes to read, play the guitar, and play ping pong.
